Meet the next generation; the 400 boldest businesses in Canada.

Welcome to the inaugural Report on Business ranking of Canada’s Top Growing Companies. These 400 businesses operate in such hot sectors as fintech, e-commerce and cannabis, along with long-established industries like manufacturing and transportation. Some are globally known giants, including Shopify (No. 98), Canada Goose (No. 188) and Alimentation Couche-Tard (No. 326); most are less familiar names but worth watching nonetheless. Why? Because each company on this list is rising fast: Their average revenue growth was 511% over the past three years. As these businesses expand, they solidify Canada’s reputation as an entrepreneurial nation and offer lessons on finding new markets, commercializing great ideas and building teams that can inspire organizations of all sizes. Among this group are likely some of the country’s biggest innovations and corporations of the future—the next generation of Canadian business stars.

Phoenix Building Components offers prefabricated wood wall panels for projects of all sizes. We routinely build and ship a wide spectrum of projects that include garages, custom houses, condo projects, assisted living facilities, hotels, and much more. If a project is framed in wood, it is a candidate for using prefabricated wall panels.

We use specialized design software to 3-dimensionally layout a building in order to identify and work-out any architectural issues prior to production. Design problems that frequently arise on site can be costly, and often mean a compromise is required in order to proceed. This is virtually eliminated by taking the wall layout and assembly into a controlled environment.

Wall panels enable a significantly reduced on-site completion time on even the most difficult project. Studies have shown that framing costs are often reduced by 25% – depending on the project scope. With experienced trades becoming harder to find, wall panels are quickly becoming a viable alternative to conventional on-site framing of components.

Phoenix manufactures wall panels using 100% Kiln Dried lumber – in 2″ x 4″, 2″ x 6″ and 2″ x 8″ dimensions. For project specific applications, engineered wood studs (LSL or LVL) can be substituted as required. Exterior wall sheathing is fastened in our facility using a semi-automated staple bridge, and is generally either OSB or Plywood in any thickness specified. Special nailing requirements can also be accommodated for shearwalls in large structures.

Phoenix Building Components uses one of the most sophisticated layout and engineering software platforms available in designing roof and floor truss packages. We utilize fully interactive computer programs to link our layout and engineering drawings to our production facility. This ensures consistency and accuracy through every step of the manufacturing process. These critical linkages are important to guarantee that our customer’s on-site experience is second to none.

Phoenix purchases lumber from only the best mills, using 100% Kiln Dried Lumber in both Premium Visual and Machine Stress Rated (MSR) grades for our products. Our manufacturing team utilizes the most advanced production equipment on the market today. This equipment includes 100% computer controlled CNC saws and Virtek laser guided jigging set-ups.

Our integrated design and manufacturing network utilizes a “real-time” scheduling system that provides an accurate method of determining production lead-times at the time an order is confirmed. In addition, we have a dedicated logistics staff to ensure we are producing orders as they are required, making the most efficient use of our production facility. As demand increases during peak building seasons, the ability to manage our schedule is of critical importance. Pin-pointing an accurate delivery window not only helps us, it helps our customers.
